Who best knows the characteristics of his agricultural land—the Farmer or the Planner?
Here we have an example of a local farmer with an intimate knowledge of his land, attempting to make himself heard. But the County Planners seem more interested in listening to a group that claims to be be battling to protect green space, of which farmland is a vital part 1.
A local blogger has brought this to public attention.
In their zeal to protect the “viewshed”, the watchdogs have demanded a mitigation measure (redwood mulch) that has instead hampered the regrowth of the vegetation that would keep the hillside green. Planners and watchdogs alike have also ignored the advice of the local professionals at the Resource Conservation District.
